Established in 1987, MHF has steadily developed capacity to advance its stewardship goals through natural heritage, built heritage, shoreline restoration and collaborative stewardship initiatives. Our awards program acknowledges people and properties that demonstrate commitment to MHF’s stewardship principles. Education and fundraising efforts ensure that our message is heard and that our important work continues.
In 1996 MHF established the Muskoka Heritage Trust to preserve Muskoka’s heritage assets in perpetuity by means of acquisition or conservation easements.
In 2001 the Muskoka Watershed Council was established as a joint initiative of the Muskoka Heritage Foundation and the District Municipality of Muskoka to champion watershed health.
