The Muskoka Heritage Trust is a charitable, registered land trust whose mandate is to protect ecologically significant lands in Muskoka.
Across North America, the land trust movement has been gaining momentum. At the same time, many people in Muskoka are recognizing the need to protect the ecologically significant areas that make Muskoka such a special place.
Since 1996, thousands of volunteer hours (Board and Technical Advisory Group) have been spent negotiating with land donors, visiting properties, documenting ecological values, processing land donations and monitoring and managing protected properties.
The Trust has seen exponential growth in the amount of ecologically significant land it has protected. Having received less than $400,000 in donations and grants, the Trust has received land and conservation easements valued at more than $10 million.

Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
Our Technical Advisory Group are a group of professionals (ecologists, biologists, foresters, gps experts, recorders, etc.) who volunteer to visit held and potential lands.
During these visits they assess ecological values, develop species lists, determine proximity to other protected lands and assess future management needs.
We couldn’t do our work without them!
Contact us if you are interested in volunteering with this group.
