Annie Williams Park

Bracebridge, 2011

Muskoka Heritage Foundation (MHF) has partnered with Annie Williams Park in Bracebridge, Ontario to undertake a re-naturalization project in the park. Funds were received from the Home-Depot Evergreen Paper Hammer Grant to assist in the project.

Over the winter of 2010-2011, the Natural Heritage Committee along with student volunteers from Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Secondary School undertook an inventory of the park in order to determine the current status of tree health there and to establish a plan for the park before undertaking the actual physical work of the re-naturalization project.

Natural Heritage Committee members visited the park to complete a detailed inventory of existing trees and plants, and subsequently developed a plan (with the tree tags) for re-naturalization of the shoreline area.

Using the inventory developed and the advice of Natural Heritage Committee, the Park Board decided on their priorities for the re-naturalization. The plan was successfully implemented on September 10, 2011 by an enthusiastic team of MHF volunteers once again guided by the expertise of Rob Allen of Northway Gardeners.

Thanks to all the MHF volunteers who participated.
